A native of La Canada Flintridge, CA, John Sciarra Jr. arrived on Staten Island in 2003 after transferring from UCLA. In his first-ever start donning the Green & White, Sciarra completed 29 of 38 passes for 333 yards while connecting for three touchdowns in a 35-28 road victory at La Salle
back on September 4, 2004.

The next year, Sciarra rewrote many of the accomplishments he set in the previous season. On September 15, 2005, Sciarra threw for a Wagner program-record five touchdowns on 22-of-32 completions for 298 yards as the Seahawks posted a 52-25 road victory at Saint Peter’s.

A few weeks later, he was making changes to record books once again. On Homecoming night, he set the school benchmark with 409 passing yards and 33 completions against Central Connecticut.

He finished the year becoming the first-ever player in Northeast Conference (NEC) history to throw for 3,000 yards, finishing the season with 3,321 yards. Additionally, he ranked among the top-50 in the FCS in passing efficiency.

For his accomplishments, he was named to the Don Hansen All-American
Honorable Mention list while garnering All-NEC Second Team honors as well as being named the team’s Most Valuable Player.
