Emil Cenci (1948-1950) was one of the top baseball players in Wagner history. This standout outfielder was the team leader in stolen bases, runs scored, hits, and RBI. A gifted speedster with a strong throwing arm, he also played first base and pitched on occasion.

The three-year letterwinner was an excellent bunter and excelled at taking an extra base with his aggressiveness. Hall of Fame coach Herb Sutter felt that Cenci had the quickest hands of anyone he ever coached and would have used him at shortstop had he not been left-handed.

Over the course of three seasons, Cenci batted .315 and was voted team captain for the 1951 season, but had already graduated cum laude in Business Administration. Cenci, who also earned his MBA from NYU in 1957, would go on to continue his love of the game after graduation playing and managing for many years.
