NEC Release I Streilein Stats from Last Week I Wagner Season StatsSomerset, NJ – Freshman attackman
Andrew Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), who recorded a hat trick while sinking all three shots that he attempted in keying a 12-4 win over VMI last Tuesday, before supplying two goals and an assist in the Seahawks' thrilling 6-5 overtime win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced today.
In the NEC opener for both teams on Saturday, Streilein had a direct hand in Wagner taking a 2-0 lead over the Mount, scoring the game's first goal and assisting on the other. On the latter goal, Streilein intercepted a pass behind the Seahawk goal and alertly found a cutting
Patrick McMenamin (Longport, NJ/St. Auustine Prep), hitting his fellow attackman in stride.
Then, with Wagner trailing 4-3, he buried a gorgeous wrap-around goal on a brilliant individual effort, that tied the game at 4-4 with 6:15 left in the third quarter. In helping Wagner outscore VMI and the Mount by a combined 18-9, Streilein registered six points in the 2-0 week, with five goals and one assist.
For the season, the 5-11, 170-pound Streilein leads the Seahawks in goals (13) and points (20), while ranking second in assists (7), in additing to collecting eight ground balls and forcing three caused turnovers. The skilled and crafty South Jersey product's
first NEC honor came back on March 2 when he combined for four goals and four assists in a 13-10 loss to Rutgers (2/24 ) and a 14-6 win over UMass Lowell (2/28).
Now 3-4 on the season, last week's victories over VMI and Mount St. Mary's marked the first the first time in the 15-year history of the Wagner men's lacrosse program that the Seahawks have posted consecutive wins. Saturday also marked Wagner's first-ever win over the Mount as the Green & White entered the game with a 0-14 all-time record vs. the Mountaineers.

Matt Poskay and equals the most wins in a season for Wagner, matching the 2002 Seahawks who went 3-10. The Seahawks gave has a chance to set a school mark when it seeks victory number four at NJIT, a first-year Division I program, in Newark, NJ on Saturday, March 28 at Noon.
