NEC Release I Streilein Stats from Last Week
Somerset, NJ – Freshman attackman
Andrew Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), who tallied four goals and assisted on four other in two games last week was recognized for his efforts by being named Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today.
The skilled and crafty South Jersey product scored two goals and dished out three assists in the Seahawks' 13-10 loss at Big 10 member Rutgers on February 24, a game that was tied 10-10 in the fourth quarter before the Scarlet Knights rallied late. On February 28, the 5-11, 170-pound Streilein, whose sister Olivia is a standout attacker on the Seahawk women's lacrosse team, followed that performance with a two-goal, one-assist outing in helping lead Wagner to a 14-6 victory at UMass Lowell.
The 1-2 Seahawks, under the direction of fourth-year head coach
Matt Poskay, travel to the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, March 3 when the Green & White meet Monmouth at 3:00 p.m. in a game that was originally scheduled to be played on February 17 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
Monmouth, which is in its second season as a Division I program, notched its first-ever D-1 victory on Saturday when they earned a 10-9 win at Rutgers.
