Before Wagner: Akanmu began his collegiate career at McCook Community College (NE), starting all 32 games and averaging 11.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and one steal per game, scoring in double figures 23 times, including a season-high 30 points in a win over No. 6 Northeastern Junior College. This past season, the Paris, France native played at Vincennes University (NJCAA Division I, Region 24), where he started 32 of 33 games and averaged 9.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest, posting five double-doubles—highlighted by a 22-point, 11-rebound effort against Lake Land College—and earning 2025 NJCAA Division I All-Region 24 honors.
