Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped its third game of the young 2025 season to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers at Hameline Field on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Mountaineers climb to 2-2 on their year.
Senior Ethan Sieb scored the first two goals of the game for either side, finding the back of the net with 8:44 and 6:53 remaining in the opening period.Â
After the Mountaineers first goal of the game, junior Jake Mitchell scored a goal for the third straight contest with 4:40 remaining in the first.Â
Mount St. Mary's would go on to score two goals in the final minute of the first quarter to tie the game at three heading into the second.
Wagner would be outscored by Mount St. Mary's, 7-1, in the second quarter. The Seahawks lone goal second period score came from senior Carson Skinner who was assisted on the play by Mitchell.
At the half, Mount St. Mary possessed a 10-4 advantage over Wagner.
The Seahawks came out of halftime and outscored the Mountaineers, 4-2, in the third quarter.
Jake Mitchell scored Wagner's first second half goal off of a full-field assist from sophomore Angus Snow. Junior Max Frissora, senior Dylan Haase, and freshman Benjamin McDonnell followed suit to make it a 11-8 game with 3:17 left in the third frame.
The Mountaineers would respond with one more goal to head into the fourth with a 12-8 advantage.
In the fourth quarter, Mount St. Mary's added three goals to Wagner's one to prevail 15-9 and captured its second win of the season.
The Green & White's only fourth period goal came courtesy of freshman Sean Sanchez.
In net, Snow played the entirety of the game for the Seahawks. The Victoria, British Columbia native saved eight shots on the day and added an assist to Mitchell in the second quarter.
As a team, Wagner and Mount St. Mary's both took a total of 36 shots with 23 being on target. The Seahawks also won 17 out of the 28 faceoffs against the Mountaineers.Â
Next up, the Seahawks will welcome UMass-Lowell to Hameline Field for a noon faceoff against the River Hawks on Saturday, February 22.
