Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College baseball team won its fourth straight game in earning a sweep of Atlantic 10 members, St. Bonaventure, posting a 4-1 win in the nightcap of Friday's doubleheader.

With the win, the Seahawks improved the 10-17 while the Bonnies fell to .500 on the year, standing at 14-14.

Anthony Godino (Thornwood, NY/Pleasantville) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a team-best three RBIs in the victory. Sophomore 3B
Anthony Pecora (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) and sophomore CF
Joe Silvestrone (Manalapan, NJ/Freehold Township) along with freshman designated hitter
Nick D'Amore (Philadelphia, PA/Neumann-Goretti) each had a hit for the Seahawks in the second game of this afternoon's doubleheader.

Senior RHP starter,
Austin Goeke (Bordentown, NJ/The Hun School) went six innings, giving up five hits, an unearned run while walking three and striking out three in picking up his third win of the season. Sophomore LHP
Neil Abbatiello (North Salem, NY/Dobbs Ferry) pitched three scoreless innings, giving up two hits while walking four and striking out five in earning his first save of the season.

St. Bonaventure starter, Casey Vincent, was charged with the loss after going six innings and giving up four earned runs, five hits while walking three and striking out four.

Similarly to game one, the Bonnies scored the game's first run. Aaron Phillips led off with a single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the Seahawks' right fielder. Phillips moved up 90 feet on a wild pitch from Goeke. A batter later, Taishi Terashima sent a fly ball to center in which Phillips tagged up on the play and came into score.

Wagner knotted the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, junior RF
Kyle Cala (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) was hit by a pitch. Silvestrone laced a single to right, moving Cala to third and giving the Seahawks runners on the corners. Senior 1B
Brad Currao (Howell, NJ/St. Rose) reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Cala before Silvestrone was throw out at third on a strike from SBU's Phillips to the third baseman, Dave Hollins, in ending the inning.

Following a scoreless top half of the fifth, the Seahawks score three times in the bottom of the frame in taking a 4-1 lead. D'Amore legged out an infield hit to second and moved up to second following a sacrifice bunt from junior 2B
Kyle Brey (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South). Pecora drew a five-pitch walk, giving the Seahawks runners on first and second.

Godino stepped in to face Vincent. After taking a pitch for a strike on the outside corner, the third-year Seahawk stepped back into the box and delivered the biggest runs of the contest as he took Vincent's 0-1 pitch over the left-field wall for his first round-tripper of the season and the second of his career.

Abbatiello came on in relief of Goeke in to begin the seventh. The second-year southpaw was able to record a strikeout of TJ Baker before walking Ben MacDonald. Abbatiello was able to settle in a get Jared Baldinelli looking at strike three. With two outs, Ryan MacCarrick sent a single back up the middle, giving SBU runners on first and second. The second-year Seahawk reliever was able to Cole Peterson to ground out back to him in ending the potential threat.

Abbatiello face a bit of adversary in the eighth. Two straight walks opened the frame but he was able get Hollins chasing strike three and closed out the frame with another punchout, this time getting Baker.

In the ninth, Abbatiello struck out MacDonald after a eight-pitch ordeal. Baldinelli singled to left field but was thrown out trying to steal second for the second out of the inning. MacCarrick kept hope alive for St. Bonaventure, walking on four straight pitches before the Seahawks sealed up the victory, as Abbatiello induced a game-ending groundout to second.

The Seahawks will next be in action on Tuesday, April 18, as they welcome Big East members, Villanova University, to Staten Island. First-pitch from Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George is slated for 6:00 p.m.
