Brooklyn, NY -
Wagner scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in posting a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind win over Rider in the Green & White's home opener at MCU Park in Coney Island.

With their second one-run victory of the season, the Seahawks improve to 2-8 while the Broncs fall to 3-9.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs and facing a two-strike count, junior Tommy Mazurkiewicz (Neshanic Station, NJ / Somerville) battled back to force a full count and eventually a walk. Classmate Jason Gordon (Baltimore, MD / Archbishop Curley) followed by earning a free pass of his own while forcing Mike Diorio from the game. Freshman Evan Fardella (Bartonsville, PA / Pocono Mountain East) then greeted reliever Mickey Donnelly by working yet another walk to load up the bases. Sophomore Vaughn Champion (Galloway, NJ / Absegami) picked up his teammates with a a two-run, game-tying single to left center to score Mazurkiewicz and pinch-runner junior Zach Yesko (Mukwonago, WI / Mukwonago). Classmate Dan Wasilick (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) immediately broke the deadlock with an infield single as Fardella would come around to score when the ball was deflected by the Rider second baseman.

In the top of the eighth, the Broncs threatened with a pair of walks but sophomore RHP Mike Adams (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Holy Spirit) kept the visitors at bay by inducing an inning-ending double play.

Adams would then close out the victory with another scoreless frame in the ninth to earn his second save of the season.

Junior RHP Anthony Battaglia (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) earned the win, evening his record at 1-1 thanks to notching 2.0 scoreless innings of work.

The visitors scored both of its runs in the top of the first inning on four hits. Nick Richter led off with a single before stealing second and third. Mike Parsons followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Richter and open the scoring.  Rider then plated their second run on Justin Thomas' two-out RBI double.

The Broncs had numerous opportunities to add to their lead but managed to go just 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position, including squandering a bases loaded, one-out opportunity in the top of the seventh inning.

Mazurkiewicz went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run to pace a Wagner attack that recorded seven hits while seeing eight of its nine regulars hit safely.

Thomas led the way for Rider, going 2-for-2 with a double and a run while reaching base safely in all four trips to the plate.

Broncs RHP Josh Sharik was outstanding on the mound, striking out two over 5.0 scoreless innings of two-hit ball in earning a no-decision. Donnelly (0-3) was saddled with the loss, allowing one run on two hits.

The Seahawks return to action against No. 8 Cal Poly on Friday, March 14 at 9:00 pm (EST) in the first of three games against the highly-regarded Mustangs.
