Rich Behan joined the Wagner College Athletics staff in May of 2024 as the Associate Athletic Director of External Relations. He currently oversees branding, fundraising, licensing, ticketing and corporate partnerships.
Formerly, Behan served on the Saint Peter’s University Athletics staff in August of 2021 as a Digital Media and Communications Graduate Assistant and was elevated to Assistant Athletics Director for Integrated Marketing & Content Strategy in August of 2022.
In his former role, Behan was the department lead for all marketing-related events, including gameday activities and oversight of in-arena video boards, table staff, and ESPN production staff. He also played a key role in the development of all social media content across Saint Peter’s Athletics platforms. Behan formerly oversaw branding, fundraising, licensing, marketing, and corporate partnerships while in Jersey City.
In his first year at Saint Peter’s, Behan played an integral role in content creation of the men's basketball program's unprecedented run to the Elite Eight as the No. 15 seed during the 2021-22 installment of March Madness. His efforts resulted in historic media exposure and exponential growth across all Saint Peter’s social media channels. As a Graduate Assistant, Behan worked on all gameday broadcast productions, including the Peacocks Digital Network and ESPN3/+. He also served as the primary contact for Track & Field/Cross Country and was the secondary contact for Men’s Basketball.
Behan is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Communications/Public Relations from Saint Peter's University. Prior to his time in Jersey City, he completed his undergraduate degree at Seton Hall University in May of 2020. While earning a degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Sport Management and Marketing, Behan worked in the Athletics Communications Office for 4 years. He served as the primary Play-By-Play and On-Air voice of Seton Hall Athletics on the Pirate Sports Network. This role also included content creation and statistical upkeep for multiple sports, including Swimming/Diving and Track & Field/Cross Country.
In addition to his position at Wagner, Behan works as a freelance broadcaster/talent. He has worked as a Play-By-Play, Analyst, and Sideline Reporter with the Big East Digital Network, NEC Front Row, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wagner College, and Fort Lee High School. He has also worked as a Public Address Announcer for Saint Peter’s University, Seton Hall University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wagner College, and St. John’s University.
No stranger to the island, Behan is a native of and currently resides in Staten Island, New York.
