Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team earned a 2-1 victory over Manhattan in comeback fashion on Wednesday afternoon as part of a midweek doubleheader. In game two, the Seahawks fell 9-0 as the two teams split the non-conference series.

The first game of the afternoon was a pitcher's duel early on, with neither team getting a run across in the first five innings of the contest.
 
The Jaspers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but the Seahawks answered in the bottom half of the frame.
 
Junior 
Samantha Tran led off the inning with a double and tied the game two batters later, as graduate student 
Mackenzie Vogler brought her home on a perfectly executed bunt.
 
With two outs in the inning, sophomore 
Kate Wolf brought home the go-ahead run with an RBI double, giving the Seahawks a 2-1 lead.
 
Graduate student 
Eve Harvey shut the door in the seventh to pick up the complete game win. Harvey struck out two while limiting Manhattan to one run on six hits.

The Jaspers earned the victory in game two, scoring three runs in the second inning and six in the fourth.

Natalie Rodriguez was charged with the loss in the circle, with fellow first-year Seahawk 
Emma Crosby also seeing action in relief.
 
The Seahawks return to the Lower Field for a pivotal Northeast Conference (NEC) series this Friday and Saturday against LIU.
