Staten Island, NY – Intersport, producers of the state Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, announced today, February 13, first round voting for the 2018 State Farm "Dark Horse Dunker" competition, which is now open through February 20.

Shack Scott (Paterson, NJ/The Robinson School [Monroe College]) is one of 16 finalists in the running to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship Final Four Weekend. He will become the second Seahawk to participate in the "Dark Horse Dunker," joining former Seahawk high-flyer Dwaun Anderson, who was entered back in 2016.
The competition begins today at 1:00 p.m. with first-round voting. Fans will determine the winner by voting daily at
DarkHorseDunker.com.
The State Farm "Dark Horse Dunker" contest is a digital media contest that will match up 16 of the top college dunkers in a bracket-style competition to determine the final participant in the Slam Dunk Championship. The athlete with the most votes in each matchup will move on to the next round.
The schedule for each voting round will go as follows:
- 4 weeks of voting (Feb. 13 – Mar. 16)
- Round of 16 (Feb. 13-20)
- Quarterfinals (Feb. 21-Feb.28)
- Semifinals (Mar. 1-Mar. 8)
- Finals (Mar. 9-16)
The winner will be announced on March 16.
The 16 "Dark Horse Dunkers" participating in the contest were selected by a committee representing the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.
The Round One matchups are:
- Montrell Williams (Arkansas Tech) vs. Quincy January (Saint Augustine's University)
- Shack Scott (Wagner) vs. Tim Bond (Eastern Michigan)
- TK Edogi (Iona) vs. Tom Lacey (Navy)
- Walter Rickett (Oklahoma City) vs. Darryl Tucker (West Florida)
- Kajon Mack (Tennessee Tech) vs. Max Pearce (Purchase College)
- Latye Workman (Brandeis) vs. Jair Green (Gannon)
- Dwight Coleby (Western Kentucky) vs. Emanuel Terry (Lincoln Memorial)
- Demetre Rivers (Mercer) vs. Dmitri Thompson (Elon)
