Brianna Tredway Named Northeast Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete Of The Year

NEC Release
NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll
NEC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll

Somerset, NJ – After earning the Northeast Conference (NEC) Student-Athlete of the Year award last week, senior Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) was named the NEC's Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.

Tredway, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.79 grade-point average, added to her scholastic accolade mantle as she was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team this year.

The senior outfielder is one of two Seahawks to collect the Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year as she joins men's tennis junior, Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep), who earned the NEC's Men's Tennis Co-Scholar Athlete award.
For Tredway and Boyd, they are the second and third Seahawks to win the award as the Green & White's swimming and diving senior Katja Claesson garnered the NEC's Winter Co-Scholar Athlete honors back in April.

The Downingtown, PA native, who received her degree in Psychology and Childhood/Special Education in May, becomes the first softball player to win the award since Kelsey Parker was named the NEC's Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014 & 2015. For the Wagner softball program, it marks the fifth time they have had a student-athlete win the honor since 2006.

Tredway was the NEC's regular-season batting champion, finishing the year with a .402 average while batting a league-best .440 in conference-only contests. In 16 league games, Tredway provided the Green & White with 22 hits while driving in 11 RBIs.  Tredway was named to the All-NEC First Team and National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) All-Region Second Team.

Finishing her career with a runner-up performance at this year's NEC Championship, Tredway posted a .319 career average, while tallying 175 hits, 37 doubles, and 71 RBIs.

In the classroom, Tredway was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa (Leadership Society), Kappa Delta Pi (Education Leadership Society) and Psy Chi (Psychology Leadership Society), in addition to being the recipient of the Education Department's Chair Award-Distinction in Teaching and Outstanding Senior Academic Achievement Award.

In the community, Tredway joined her teammates in volunteering for the annual Tunnel to Towers 5k race, the Staten Island Zoo, Staten Island Children's Museum, and the Autism Speaks Walk. During the summer, Tredway also spent over 2,000 hours working as a unit counselor at Dragonfly Forest in Valley Forge, PA and over 720 hours as a Unit Leader at Camp Tall Tree in Ann Arbor, MI.

The recent graduate also represented the softball team as an active participant of Wagner's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to help organize charity events such as the Players vs. Coaches Basketball Charity game for Children's Cancer.
