Somerset, NJ - The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced this afternoon that Wagner senior right-hander
Austin Goeke (Bordentown, NJ/The Hun School) was named NEC Pitcher of the Week. For Goeke, it marks the first time in his Seahawk career that he garnered the weekly honor.
The 6-5 Bordentown, NJ native made his second start of the season during Wagner's series opener at Colonial Athletic Association member, Towson. He fired 6.0 scoreless innings against the Tigers and leaving the game with a 1-0 lead. He fanned six batters and while only walking two during the 92-pitch outing. Limiting Towson's production at the plate, all three hits allowed were singles as Goeke set down the side in order in the first, second and sixth innings.
Over 11.2 frames this season, he has yet to surrender an earned run while posting a 0.69 WHIP and has fanned 13 batters this season.
