Somerset, NJ – The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced on Tuesday afternoon that Wagner men's tennis senior
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/ Loyola College Prep) has been named NEC Men's Tennis Player of the Month for the month of October.
For Boyd, this marks the first time in his Seahawk career that he has earned the league's monthly Player of the Week award and the second time that he's been honored by the conference as he was tabbed
NEC Rookie of the Week back on September 30, 2014.
Boyd is coming off a strong month that saw him post a 7-2 singles record and a 6-1 mark in doubles action. He won his second tournament of the season at the Fordham Four-In-The-Fall, capturing the "C" bracket title. He won a pair of three-setters, including a 6-1, 2-6, 11-9 victory over FDU's Maciej Autuch in the final.
In that same event, Boyd teamed with classmate
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA/Buchanan) to win the "B" flight doubles crown. For October, he and Wang went 6-0. The fourth-year Seahawk has now won 59 singles matches over the course of his career at Wagner.
Boyd and the rest of the Seahawks resume their season in the spring when they take on the University of Delaware Blue Hens on February 2, 2018 in Newark, DE.
