Four Men's Tennis Players Garner All-Northeast Conference Honors

Link to Official NEC Release

Somerset, NJ – After enjoying a successful turnaround season which featured 14 wins, including an opening round win at the 2015 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship over #4 seeded, Mount St. Mary's, four members of the Wagner men's tennis team were recognized with All-NEC honors, announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon.

The freshman combination of Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland/Oak Meadow [VT]) and Juan Alanis (Mexico City, Mexico/K12 International Academy) were named to the second team All-NEC Doubles squad at the #1 flight position.

In addition, Rolski, along with classmates Ryan Khan (Weston, FL/University School) and Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep) headlined the inaugural NEC All-Rookie team joining Bryant's Matt Kuhar, the 2015 NEC Rookie of the Year, as well as Luke Lorenz and Alec Dylan Foo-Kune from Saint Francis U.

"I am very proud our young team and the four men that were chosen," commented head coach Danny Kreyman "Michal, Ryan, Charlton and Juan have all helped changed the culture and establish the Seahawks as a competitor in the NEC."

A lack of NEC experience didn't stop Rolski and Alanis from compiling a 3-2 record in conference matches this season and while winning a combined six matches this spring, four of which coming out of the #1 flight spot.

The Kielczow, Poland native made a huge impact in his inaugural season for Wagner, winning two NEC Player of the Month awards in the fall.  Out of the #1 singles spot, Rolski finished with an 18-9 record in 2014-15 while tying for the league lead with 11 victories at the #1 flight against just five defeats. He is only one of three players who claimed a win over Arvis Berzins, the league's first four-time Player of the Year, as he beat him in the Quinnipiac Invitational in the fall.

Khan's fantastic first season saw him post a 4-1 record in conference play and a 13-win season. The Weston, FL native finished 7-4 at the #2 spot, the second-most wins at the flight in the league.

Boyd didn't waste any time making a name for himself amongst this talented freshman class with his selection as NEC Rookie of the Month in September.  The Shreveport, LA native posted an 18-9 record on the year, tying him for the team lead with Rolski.
