Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI/Hawaii Preparatory Academy) of the Wagner women's swimming & diving team was tabbed the Northeast Conference (NEC) Swimmer of the Week for second consecutive week, the league announced.
This is the third NEC Swimmer of the Week citation Nihipali has picked up so far this season.
Nihipali continued her impressive junior season competing at the 2015 AT&T US Winter Nationals over the weekend at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, WA. During her second career appearance at US Winter Nationals, Nihipali made Wagner program history becoming the first swimmer to qualify for U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-Meter Backstroke.
The Hawaiian native swam during Friday morning preliminaries and took first place in her heat, clocking in a US Olympic Trial qualifying time of 1:02.77 (LCM). Seated 24th overall going into Finals on Friday night, Nihipali dropped a place en route to finishing the event 23rd overall, posting an identical time of 1:02.77 at finals.
