Wagner Baseball Summer Report

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner Baseball team has 21 of its student-athletes spread out across seven summer collegiate wood bat leagues. Here is a update on all of the players by league affiliations. Additionally, by clicking on each player's name you can access their stats as they get updated throughout the summer.

New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
After finishing the season strong with 5.0 innings of shutout ball against Northeast Conference (NEC) Champion Bryant, rising sophomore RHP Nolan Long has continued his success with Mystic. Long (0-2) leads Mystic with 27 strikeouts to go along with a 3.48 ERA over 20.1 innings of work in four starts. Over his last two outings, the Nutmeg State native has raised his game to an even higher level, fanning 17 and walking just four over in 12.2 innings of work.

Coastal Plains League
Rising senior Nick Dini and rising junior Paul Mammino are playing for High Point Thomasville HiToms. Dini is hitting .224 (13-for-58) with six runs, three doubles, one home run and four RBI while throwing out 38.9 percent (7-for-18) of runners on the bases. Mammino (0-0), meanwhile, has posted a perfect 0.00 ERA over 4.0 innings of work, spanning seven games out of the bullpen.

Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Four members of the Green & White are playing in the PGCBL. Rising sophomore LHP Nick DiLeo and classmate RHP Austin Goeke are both pitching for Albany. DiLeo (0-0) has appeared in six games, recording a 4.15 ERA with six strikeouts over 13.0 innings while Goeke (0-1) has seen action in seven games, posting a 7.36 ERA with 18 strikeouts in just 14.2 innings of action. Rising junior infielder John Lynn and rising sophomore LHP Brad Currao are members of Glens Falls. Lynn has scored eight runs with three RBI while Currao (0-2) has pitched in six games, striking out seven over 8.2 innings.

All-American Collegiate Baseball League (AACBL)
Five Wagner players are taking part in the AACBL with rising seniors Tommy Mazurkiewicz and Dan Wasilick serving as fixtures in the infield for the Morganton with rising junior RHP Nate Hunt pitching for the Militia. Mazurkiewicz is hitting .290 (18-for-62) with 11 runs, two doubles, one home run, 15 RBI and a .437 OBP while serving as the primary first baseman. Wasilick, meanwhile, is hitting .266 (17-for-64) with 15 runs, 13 RBI and a team-best nine stolen bases. Hunt (1-2) has had a very impressive summer thus far, pitching to a 3.64 ERA with a team-best 33 strikeouts, against just seven walks, over 29.2 innings in seven games. Rounding out the Seahawk contingency in the league are rising sophomore RHP Eric McGough and classmate Jay Farrell, both of whom play for Caldwell. McGough (1-3) has seen action in five games, making four starts, and has nine strikeouts over 19.0 innings of work. Farrell, meanwhile, has five hits, three runs and three hits.

Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL)
Five members of the Green & White are also playing in the ACBL with rising senior RHP Steven Bloodworth and rising sophomore Nick Mascelli suiting up for North Jersey. Bloodworth (0-0) has put together arguably the most dominant summer season of any Wagner player, posting a miniscule 0.71 ERA with a league-best five saves and 13 strikeouts, against no walks, over 12.2 innings in 10 appearances. Mascelli is hitting a solid .271 (19-for-70) with seven runs, six extra-base hits and seven RBI. Rising senior Max Schmardel (1-3) returns to Jersey for the second-straight season and has appeared in eight games, posting a 4.50 ERA with a save and 18 strikeouts over 26.0 innings. Classmate RHP Anthony Battaglia (2-1) has appeared in a team-best 10 games out of the bullpen for Staten Island, recording two saves, a 3.09 ERA and 16 strikeouts, against five walks, over 20.1 innings. Rising sophomore Evan Fardella is playing with Allentown and hitting .304 (14-for-46) with nine runs, a team-best seven sacrifices and five stolen bases while rounding out the five Wagner players in the league.

Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League (ABCCL)
Rising senior RHP Evon Previte and rising junior RHP Ryan Spahr are both playing for Monmouth. Previte (1-0) has 12 strikeouts and a 2.16 ERA over 8.1 innings while Spahr (0-0) has made one appearance

Collegiate Baseball League Europe (CBLE)
Rising seniors Trey Nicosia and Zack Yesko both recently began their summer campaigns for the London representative in the fourth-team CBLE.

The Wagner Baseball team qualified for the 2014 NEC Tournament while snapping a four-year postseason drought and returns 28 letterwinners next season.
