Discusses Record-Setting Seahawk Career

Galloway, NJ – Dominique Williams (Bridgeton, NJ/Bridgeton HS/Milford Academy), Wagner's record-setting running back, was honored on February 23 as The South Jersey Chapter of the National Football Foundation's Collegiate Player of the Year at a banquet held at the Carriage House Restaurant.

Accepting the award on behalf of Williams, who was out of the state that weekend training for his potential professional playing career, was Seahawk Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Jason Houghtaling.
 
During the course of his well-honored and highly-decorated career at Wagner College, Williams evolved into one of the household names in, not only Wagner history, but in the annals of the Northeast Conference (NEC) as well as on the national stage.
 
A tough, sturdy and elusive running back, the 5-9, 205-pound Williams ended his storied career ranked third all-time in Wagner history in both rushing yards (4,435) and scoring (276 points). In 43 career games, he rushed for 42 touchdowns and snared four touchdown catches as a receiver out of the backfield, while rushing for 100 yards or more on 26 occasions.
 
Williams finished fourth all-time in NEC history in both rushing yards (4,435 and all-purpose yards (5,444).  After bursting onto the scene with 642 rushing yards as a true freshman in 2009, Williams suffered a knee injury on the final day of the 2010 preseason training that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation that caused him sit out the season. His work ethic and character allowed him to return to the field in 2011, where he ripped off the first of three straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
 
In 2013, Williams became the first three-time captain in Seahawk history, and went on to rush for 1,127 yards, which came on the heels of his 1,228-yard season in 2012 and his 1,338-yard campaign in 2011. A member of the 2012 College Sports Journal All-American team, Williams was named First-Team All-NEC in 2012 and was a second-team selection in 2013.
 
The  pinnacle of his career came in 2012 when he helped lead Wagner to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA FCS Playoffs and an ensuing first-round victory over Colgate, which marked the first time an NEC school had ever won an NCAA Playoff game.
 
The historical 2012 season saw Wagner rip off nine consecutive wins after dropping its first three contests en route to a 9-4 record and a final ranking of No. 21 in The Sports Network Final Top-25 Poll No. 22 in the Final FCS Coaches Poll. This marked the first time an NEC team ended the season with an appearance in both official Top-25 polls.
