Somerset, NJ - Senior LHP Matt Morris (Matawan, NJ / St. John Vianney) has been named as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Pitcher of the Week after leading Wagner to a 2-1 victory over Army in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at the MCU Park in Brooklyn. For the senior lefty it is his second career NEC weekly accolade.

Helping the Seahawks snap a season-opening six-game slide, Morris logged a career-high 7.1 innings of four-hit ball and kept the Black Knights off the scoreboard until surrendering an unearned run in the eighth inning. Morris struck out three batters while limiting Army to a .160 average and got stronger as the game wore on. After surrendering a leadoff fourth-inning single, he held the Black Knights hitless until the the eighth.

On the season, he is 1-2 with a 5.62 ERA and eight strikeouts over 16.0 innings.

Wagner returns to action with a mid-week game against Rider on Tuesday, March 11 at 3:00 pm.
