Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team enjoyed an historic season as the Seahawks qualified for their first Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship since 1997 and the first under 2014 Northeast Conference Coach of the Year, Mike Minielli.

The Green & White finished with an overall record 9-7-3 while posting a program-best 4-1-2 mark during conference play.  Wagner headed into the NEC semifinals as the #2 seed but was defeated in double overtime by the eventual tournament champions, Central Connecticut.   Much of Wagner's success came on the defensive side of the pitch, as the Seahawks yielded just four goals during conference play.

Senior goalkeeper Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY/ John F. Kennedy)posted a .869 save percentage, which ranked her 13th in the nation out of 125 Division I goalkeepersCollege Sports Madness (CSM) recognized Marcy as its 2014 All-NEC Madness Defensive Player of the Year while also selecting her to its All-NEC First Team.  At the conclusion of the NEC Championship, the former John F. Kennedy standout was named to the All-Tournament team.

In addition to the individal honors earned by Minielli and Marcy, junior midfielder Johanna Konrad (Volkach, Germany/LSH) was chosen to the All-NEC Second Team as well as to the All-Tournament team while CSM tanned the third-year forward to its All-NEC First Team following a campaign that saw her finish with a team-leading six goals and 13 points. Joining Marcy and Konrad on the CSM First Team was sophomore defender Sydney McNutt (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) who helped anchor the Seahawk defense while leading the back-four to a conference-leading nine shutouts.

Rounding out the Seahawks' honorees this season was sophomore defender Tori Rodriguez (Mission Viejo, CA / Capistrano Valley), who was named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team while freshman defender Jessica Donnelly (Manalapan, NJ / Manalapan) was tabbed to the NEC All-Rookie Team.
