New York, NY – The Wagner College Marching Band, which is in its first year of reinstatement following a four-decade hiatus, hit the ground running this fall by participating in the prestigious Columbus Day in Manhattan on Monday, October 13, in a performance that featured a Wagner College float, numerous student volunteers and participation from Seahawk cheerleaders and mascot.

Wagner College President Richard Guarasci, and his wife Carin, were among the thousands who turned out on a beautiful fall day for this world-renowned, annual parade which ran up Fifth Avenue from 47th Street to 72nd Street.

Under the direction of Jose Luis Diaz, Jr., the Seahawk Marching Band includes more than 50 members, and counting. During the 2013-2014 academic year, "The Pride of Wagner College" made its first set of impacts on the campus community, performing as a pep band at all Seahawk home football and men's and women's basketball games.

Prior to its appearance in the Columbus Day Parade, the marching band kicked off the fall by performing during, and at halftime, of the Wagner-Alderson Broaddus football game on the evening of October 4. On Sunday, October 14, the band took its act on the road for the first time, performing at the NYRR Staten Island Half-Marathon.

In addition, the Wagner Marching Band is already booked to perform at the Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
