Mason Adds Three For Next Season

Staten Island, NY – Wagner head coach Bashir Mason has announced the signings of Gregory Senat (Elmont, NY / Marianapolis Prep (CT)) and Nolan Long (Waterford, CT / South Kent School) to National Letters of Intent and David Andoh (Montreal, Quebec / IMG Academy / San Jose State) to an athletic grant-in-aid for the 2013-2014 school year. Senat and Long will have four years of eligibility while Andoh will sit out next season as a transfer student and have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2014-2015 season.

Gregory Senat (6-8, 240 – Forward)
High School: Marianapolis Prep (Coach Andrew Vitale)
AAU: Metro Boston (Coach Mo Vasquez)

Senat averaged 9.4 points and a team-leading 9.0 rebounds per game while leading Marianapolis Prep to a 21-9 record this past season. The powerful 6-8, 240-pound forward also posted seven double-doubles while notching double-figures in scoring and on the glass on 12 occasions.

The Long Island native grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds in a narrow 69-68 victory over Cushing, before scoring a season-best 21 points in an 84-78 victory over Tilton. Additionally, Senat shot 47.3 percent (83-for-176) from the floor, including a team-leading 47.4 percent (18-for-37) from long range, and 73.0 percent (63-for-86) from the line while pacing the team in rebounding a team-leading 18 times.

Coach Mason on Senat: "Greg is a highly touted face-up four man with a unique ability to score around the basket as well as shoot the ball with proficiency past the three-point line. What was most attractive about Greg was his physical presence at 6-8, 240 pounds. I think he will do really well scoring from the post, stretching defenses with the long ball and crashing the boards."

Nolan Long (6-9, 225 – Forward)
High School: South Kent School (Coach Kelvin Jefferson)
AAU: LI Lightning (Coach Dre Harrington)

As a senior at Waterford High School, Long averaged 14.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game while leading the Lancers to the Class M State Championship. The 6-9, 225-pound Long  earned Most Outstanding Player honors during the tournament and was  a 2012 CHSCA and New Haven Register First Team All-State selection. Long, who will also play baseball at Wagner, was equally successful on the diamond. After posting a miniscule 0.88 ERA with two no-hitters as a senior, he was drafted in the 38th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the San Francisco Giants.

Coach Mason on Long: "Nolan is a unique two-sport talent as he is a standout pitcher as well as a basketball player. I respect his ability and hunger for the game of basketball as he was a kid that was drafted out of high school for baseball. He declined that offer in order to go to college and pursue his dreams of playing Division I ball. For us, he will be a physical post player with a really good skill set around the basket and is relentless in pursuit of the basketball on the glass."

David Andoh (6-7, 200 – Forward)
High School IMG Academy (Coach
Vince Walden)
AAU: Belmont Short (Coach Dinos Trigonis)

Andoh transfers to Wagner from San Jose State where he spent his freshman season. During his rookie season, the 6-7, 200-pound forward averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. The Montreal native played in 21 games, making six starts, and notched a career-high 12 points against Texas State. As a senior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, he was ranked as 123rd best national prospect in the Class of 2012 by Northstar Basketball. As a junior, Andoh averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game at Saint Mary's High School while exploding onto the national scene.

Coach Mason on Andoh: "With the addition of Dave into our program, we now have three student-athletes that were ranked among the top-150 players in the country coming out of high school. Dave was a highly touted player that I am excited to have join our family. He's a game changer with his athleticism and his ability to make shots from the perimeter. With a year of sitting out, I foresee Dave being an impact player on our team and in the league."

The three-person class of 2017 completes the Seahawks' recruiting for the upcoming season.

Coach Mason on the Class of 2017: "With our team returning 10 players from last season, we as a staff took a thorough approach in recruiting with specific needs in mind. I think we did a good job of going out and getting three players to address those needs as well as players that were highly touted and impact guys that can help take our program to the next level. We were able to beat out and compete with programs such as Drexel, St. Bonaventure, Nebraska and Southern Illinois as well as schools that are at the top of our conference. I felt like we did a really good job of recruiting and am really excited about the three student-athletes we have coming in."

Wagner returns 10 letterwinners, including four players that started at least 13 games a year ago, in 2013-2014.
