Staten Island, NY – Trevor Loveland (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill West), who leads the Wagner College football team with 56 tackles, while holding a 3.82 GPA in Business Administration, has been voted to the 2013 NCAA Division I Capital One Academic All-District Football First Team, as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Â
The Capital One Academic All-District Team recognizes exceptional scholar-athletes who excel in both academics and athletics. By virtue of her being voted to the All-District Team, Loveland's name is automatically placed on the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
Â
In addition to leading the Seahawks in overall tackles with 56. Loveland also tops the team with 33 unassisted tackles to go along with a team-high three sacks. On September 28, the athletic, 6-3, 230-pound Loveland amassed a career-high 10 tackles vs. Bryant.
Â
For his efforts that day, Loveland was named the winner of the Lia Memorial Trophy, an honor that  is bestowed annually at Seahawk Defensive MVP of the Homecoming Day football game. The award was first given out in 1969, and is named in honor of former Wagner standout football player, Nick Lia, an outstanding team leader and captain who was killed in the Vietnam War.
Loveland enters this Saturday's home season finale vs. Monmouth coming off of consecutive nine-tackle performances vs. Robert Morris (10/26) and Central Connecticut (11/2).
Â
A senior academically, Loveland will be among 18 Seahawks honored in a pre-game ceremony on Senior Day, prior to the Noon kickoff vs. the Hawks. Loveland is a redshirt junior athletically, thus will have the option to return to Wagner and compete on the football team as a post-graduate if he so desires.
