Staten Island, NY - The Wagner Athletic Department recently caught up with 2003 graduate and former Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year
Jermaine Hall. The Georgia native helped the Seahawks to the 2002-2003 NEC Championship as well as the school's first and thus far only trip to the NCAA Tournament. Along the way, Hall garnered three All-NEC First Team accolades before finishing with 2,278 career points, good for second all-time in the Green & White annals.
Wagner Athletics: "Could you fill Wagner fans in on your pro career since you left Wagner?"
Jermaine Hall: "After leaving Wagner in 2003 I played in the USBL during the spring and summer before signing with the Columbus Riverdragons in my home state of Georgia. Unfortunately,I never played with the team because I had a hernia surgery in November of that year. In January of 2004, I signed up for a tryout with the Scottish Rocks of the BBL. After a one-month tryout I moved to a better league in Poland: AZS Kosalin and got my first taste of 'European Musical Chairs.' I then left that team after a month as a result of not being paid. Following a two-month stint in Argentina to end the season, I played in the Portuguese Proliga with fellow Wagner alums Dedrick Dye and Courtney Pritchard. Dedrick, however, was injured in midseason and Courtney came along as a replacement. Since 2005, I have been in the Israel Professional Leagues. I was in the First Division for four years and am now beginning my third year with the Second Division.“
Wagner Athletics: "What team and league do you play in currently?"
Jermaine Hall: "I am playing with Beer Yaakov ... We started out 5-0 and are fighting for promotion to the First Division. (Note: The best team in the Second Division wins a promotion to the First Division."
Wagner Athletics: "When was the last time you visited Wagner?"
Jermaine Hall: "I brought my wife to visit during the Summer of 2008."
Wagner Athletics: "How can fans follow you and your team?"
Jermaine Hall: "www.eurobasket.com and if you have a language translator www.safsal.co.il."
Wagner Athletics: "What do you miss about the Seahawks' Basketball program?"
Jermaine Hall: ”I miss the family atmosphere that we had as a team and all the student support, especially during the NCAA tournament season of 2002-2003."
Wagner Athletics: "Do you still talk to your former Wagner teammates?
Jermaine Hall: "I'm in touch with everyone I played with at Wagner via Facebook and Skype. Last year, Nigel Wyatte's (2004 graduate) team from France came to Israel and I went to see him play."
Wagner Athletics: "How did playing at Wagner help to shape your game?"
Jermaine Hall: "When I came to Wagner we were a young team of mostly freshmen and sophomores so we had to grow up fast and learn from our mistakes quickly. Having a chance to play and be a leader has allowed me to become the captain on a lot of my professional teams."
Wagner Athletics: "How closely do you follow the Seahawks?"
Jermaine Hall: "I'm on the website at least twice a week keeping up with all the sports there."
