BOX SCORE
Honolulu, HI – The Wagner College women's soccer team won its regular season opener 1-0 over Pacific University, with an early goal from
Jessica Panarella (Staten Island, NY) to earn a first round victory in the OHANA Hotels and Resort Soccer Shootout in Honolulu, Hawaii.
It didn't take the Seahawks long to get on the board, when a give-and-go play with fellow sophomore
Monica Zurich (Montvale, NJ), developed into a long high shot from Panarella that found its way over the goalkeepers hands and into the back of the net.
Julie Vigliotti (Staten Island, NY) also was credited with an assist on the games lone goal.
The Tigers pressured the Wagner backline throughout the game, outshooting the Seahawks 9-2 in the first half, and 18-2 on the game, but freshman
Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY)
turned away all four shots on goal to earn her first collegiate win and the shutout.
The Seahawks will play their next and last game of the round-robin tournament Sunday night at 7:00 pm Hawaiian Time (1:00 am EST) against the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
