Staten Island, NY – Naofall Folahan, a 6-11, 215-pound center has signed a national letter of intent to attend Wagner College and play basketball for head coach
Dan Hurley. Folahan will enroll on Grymes Hill in the fall of 2010 and will have four years of eligibility.
A native of the Benin Republic, a country in West Africa, he has been in the U.S. for two years and has only been playing basketball for five years. He spent the past year at the Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, MA.
Folahan, who was also actively recruited by Tulane and Davidson, averaged eight points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots per game last season at Wilbraham and Monson. He spent the previous year at Fitchburg (Mass.) Notre Dame Prep.
“I am incredibly excited to add Naofall to the program,” said Hurley. “You'd be happy at any level of college basketball to add a 6-11 kid with athleticism and a young man who is rapidly developing into a player. He's obviously a major impact player and the type of player that you can build a program around on both ends of the floor. He's a bit raw but I am confident he will develop into a tremendous player. ”
Folahan is the third student-athlete that Wagner has signed since Hurley took over the program on April 7, joining Latif Rivers, a 6-1, 185-pound guard from Elizabeth, NJ and Orlando Parker, a 6-8, 195-pound forward from Orlando, FL. Rivers and Parker bring Wagner's recruiting class to five student-athletes as 6-2 guard Evan Pierce (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) and 6-8 forward Josh Daniell (Old Bridge, NJ/St. Patrick's) signed with the Seahawks during the November signing period.
