Doscher Named NEC Offensive Player Of The Week

DOSCHER HIGHLIGHTS FROM WIN OVER BRYANT

NEC NOTEBOOK FEATURING PAUL DOTTINO

OFFICIAL NEC RELEASE

Somerset, NJ -
Quarterback Nick Doscher (Staten Island, NY / Moore Catholic) was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Offensive Player of the Week following his outstanding performance in Wagner's 29-21 victory over Bryant. Doscher, a 2009 NEC First Team selection at quarterback, has now won seven weekly league accolades, including two Offensive Player of the Week citations.

His 323 yards of total offense accounted for his highest total thus far this season and lifted the Seahawks (2-2; 1-1 NEC) to a rousing conference win over the Bulldogs. The sophomore signal caller was 13-of-27 in the air for 261 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a team-best 62 yards on 12 carries.

Doscher's 62-yard scoring pass to senior Justin Matthews (Hillside, NJ / Hillside) gave the Green & White its first lead at 12-7. After Bryant reclaimed the lead early in the second quarter, he delivered again. This time, the Staten Island native threw a six-yard scoring strike to graduate student Chris Jaeger (Sterling, VA / Potomac Falls) that put Wagner ahead for good with 3:20 remaining in the opening half. Doscher opened the second-half scoring when he converted a 3rd-and-goal from the 18-yard line, finding sophomore Dan Ford (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter. The weekly honor is the first this year for the preseason all-NEC quarterback.

Doscher also had two passing plays of 40 or more and now has five on the season, after notching just four in his first season at the helm of the Green & White. On the year, he is 49-of-94 for 811 yards and eight touchdowns while picking up 209 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown.

The Green & White return to action this weekend with a non-league game at Georgetown on Saturday, October 9 at 1:00 pm.
