Kyle Morrison shut down the Staten Island Yankees at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Sunday, September 6. Morrison struck out four and yielded just two runs while striking out four over 5.2 innings in Vermont's 11-2 win.
Pitching against one of the top offenses in the New York Penn League, the hard-throwing right-hander settled down after yielding a first inning run and closed his first professional campaign with a bang. Over his last four outings on the year, Morrison struck out 16 over 21.2 innings and posted a 2.49 ERA.
For the summer, Morrison went 3-4 with 44 strikeouts and a 3.44 ERA over 55.0 innings.
Morrison will most likely start next season with the Hagerstown (MD) Suns of the Low-A South Atlantic League or the Potomac (VA) Nationals of the High-A Carolina League.
