Federal Way, WA-
Jessica Hart (Montreal, Canada/Northwest) completed her summer competition with the US Open Championships in Federal Way, WA on August 6. Once again Hart competed in her most-accomplished event, the 100m butterfly, where she finished 34th in a field of 100 competitors, clocking in with a time of 1:01.75.
"This was by far the best 100 fly Jessica has swum this summer,” said Head Coach
Mark Sowa. “It has been a blast watching her learn how to race this event and watching her get better every time she dives off the blocks. For her to go faster than she did in Montreal, after making the long trip across the country was really amazing. It would have been nice for her to get a second swim since we both feel that there is still a good deal of room for improvement. Overall, this was a great summer of racing and I think we can look forward to continued big things on the horizon for Jessica."
Earlier this summer, Hart competed in the Essais Mondiaux ROME 2009 World Championship Trials, where she garnered an 11th-place finish in the 100 butterfly ( 1:01.85), a seventh-place finish in the 50 butterfly ( 27.69) and an 18th-place finish in the 200 butterfly ( 2:19.95).
