Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV/Wooster) was named to the
ESPN the Magazine / College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All- American District 1 first team as released by the organization earlier today, making her eligible for the national ballot. Joining Lazzari, on the second team was junior
Kate Eshelman (Reno, NV/McQueen).
Lazzari, who is dual majoring in Sociology & Education, has accumulated a GPA of 3.83. This marks the senior's second time being honored for the first team recognition. Lazzari had one of her best years this season leading the team with a .412 batting average, slugging percentage (.759), OBP (.448), runs (42), hits (70), RBI (51), doubles (11), home runs (16) and total bases. The senior also set career records in home runs (34), doubles (50), total bases (390), putouts (1124) while tying for the top spot in hits (238).
Eshelman, who is a Chemistry major with a 3.88 GPA had a standout year, recording a batting average of .318 with 50 hits, 32 runs, nine doubles, three home runs, 27 RBI, 11 stolen bases while accruing a .379 on base percentage.
