2009 MAAC All-Academic Team
Edison, NJ – Eight members of the Wagner College men’s lacrosse program were named to the 2009 MAAC All-Academic team out of a total of 56 student-athletes who make up the 2009 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse All-Academic Team, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
The eight Wagner College student-athletes who made the team are junior midfielder Peter Blackmer (Marcellus, NY / Marcellus), junior attack Dylan Fodel (Boulder, CO / Boulder), senior midfielder Joe Kross (Colinie, NY / Colonie Central), senior midfielder Brian Poissant (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius), senior attackman Jeff Policicchio (Novi, MI / Novi), Chris Ridente (Cranford, NJ / Cranford), senior attackman Michael Schaeffer (Weston, CT / Weston), and sophomore midfielder Tim Schweitzer (Babylon, NY / East Islip).
The eight Seahawks who earned a spot on the All-Academic team represent a tie for the second-most student-athletes by a single team, along with Manhattan College. Marist College led all school with 11 student-athletes making the team. Canisius College and Saint Joseph’s University each placed seven members on the team.
Five student-athletes earned spots on the team from Siena College, while Mount St. Mary’s University and Virginia Military Institute both secured four spots on the team. Providence College claimed two spots on the team.
