Stevens, Lazzari Named ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Honorees

St. Louis, MO - Senior shortstop Katie Stevens (Reno, NV/Wooster) and junior infielder Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV/Wooster) were both named to the ESPN the Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American Team for District I as released by the organization earlier today. They were both first team selections.

Stevens, who has a 3.60 grade point average in Nursing was second in the entire Northeast Conference this season in batting average at .426 and is Wagner's all-time hits leader with 244 for her career.

Junior Andrea Lazzari


Lazzari, who boasts a 3.76 in Sociology had maybe the best season any Wagner hitter has ever had. In 47 games this year she's knocked in 54 RBI (a Wagner record and tops this year in the NEC), hit 10 homeruns (tops in the NEC) and tallied 62 hits (another Wagner record) all while batting at a .422 clip with a punishing .721 slugging percentage.

Stevens, Lazzari and the rest of the Seahawks will be in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Long Island University when they take on the top-seeded Long Island University Blackbirds in the opening game of the NEC Tournament.
