Evansville, IN – Vin Avella became the second member of the 2010 Seahawks to ink a professional contract when the power-hitting Wagner first baseman joined former teammate Andy Wells on the independent Evansville Otters of the Frontier League. He is the eighth former Seahawk in the last six years to ink a professional baseball contract and the second this year.

Bailey Strikes Out One In All-Star Debut

Anaheim, CA - 2006 Wagner graduate Andrew Bailey made his All-Star debut and did not disappoint at the 81st mid-season classic at Angels Stadium of Anaheim.  Bailey, the reigning American League (AL)  Rookie of the Year, entered in the top of the seventh inning with a runner on second and two outs. After Rafael Furcal drew a full-count walk, the hard-throwing Bailey struck out Brandon Phillips with a nasty breaking ball, ending the threat.

Boyd Selected For Coastal Plains All-Star Game

Holly Springs, NC - Rising senior Seth Boyd has been selected for the 12th annual Coastal Plains All-Star game to be played on Tuesday, July 20. The game will be played at McNair Stadium in Forest City, NC with first pitch slated for 7:05 pm.

Bailey Named To Second-Straight All-Star Game
Oakland, CA - Reigning American League Rookie of the Year and 2006 graduate Andrew Bailey has been named to his second-straight All-Star game in as many seasons. Bailey, who was named as a replacement for teammate Trevor Cahill, will be in the bullpen for the AL at the 81st mid-season classic at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Tuesday, July, 13.
