Women's Bowling Wins Three Matches On First Day Of Seahawks Invite

Staten Island, NY –  The Wagner College women's bowling team earned three wins on Day 1 of the Seahawks Invite, which was competed at Rab's Country Lanes on Saturday. 
 
Following the first day of competition, the Seahawks sit in seventh out of the eight teams competing with 4,027 total pins (161.1 average). 
 
Adelphi University, who also went 3-2 on the day, sits in first place with a total pinfall of 4,405 (176.2 average) followed by Caldwell, who matched the Panthers and Seahawks with three wins, knocked down 4,333 pins (173.3). Morgan State rounded out the top three, winning four matches while posting a total pinfall of 4,317 (172.7 average).

"It is great to be back on the lanes and kicking off the second half of our season, especially, doing it at our home lanes." 
 
"I thought we were resilient all afternoon, especially in that second match against Molloy, where we found ourselves trailing throughout the majority of the match." 
 
"I am proud of the team's progress and look forward to five more competitive matches to close out the tournament." 
 
Traditional Match #1 – Wagner 832, St. Thomas Aquinas College 746
  • The host kicked off the two-day event against St. Thomas Aquinas. 
  • Kristina Colon led the way for the Green & White, rolling a 213. 
  • Totiana Miranda and Lauren Ruth Sarreal notched a 163 and 162, respectively, while Amanda Medvetz rolled a 156. 
  • The Spartans were paced by Ashley Sena's 195 followed by a 147 from Elizabeth Collins. 
  • Brianna Randazzo rolled a 144 to round out the performances for STAC. 
 
Traditional Match #2 – Wagner 788 (90), Molloy 788 (73) 
  • In one of the more tightly contested matches of the day, Wagner and Molloy needed a half-Baker tiebreaker to determine a winner. 
  • Co-captain Amanda Medvetz set the stage for the Seahawks, converting the 2-4-8-10 split out of the No. 4 spot before turning it over to Totiana Miranda.
  • The second-year Seahawk rolled a strike on the final shot of regulation that moved the match into a tiebreaker, in which Wagner was able to withstand the Lions for the second win of the day. 
  • Medvetz finished up with a team-high 232, followed by Sarreal, who bowled a 174. 
  • Amanda Scarfogliero and Hannah Skalacki each finished with a 166 to pace the Lions. 
 
Traditional Match #3 – Wagner 708, Caldwell 973
  • Wagner suffered its first defeat of the afternoon, falling to Caldwell. 
  • Rhianna Smith and Jenna Rapach each finished over 200, with Smith rolling a match-high 233 while Rapach added a 223. 
  • Paige Clegg was one pin shy of recording the Cougars' third 200-game of the match, as she finished at 199. 
  • America Carhart paced Wagner with a 157 while Sarreal continued to thrive, finishing with a 154. 
 
Traditional Match #4 – Wagner 848, Adelphi 888
  • The Green & White rebounded from their third match and kept pace with the Panthers before falling by just 40 pins. 
  • Adelphi's Taylor Eggert and Hailey Spencer each went over 200, with Eggert leading the way with a 225 while Spencer finished at 210. 
  • Colon posted her second 200-game of the afternoon, rolling a team-high 204. 
  • Sarreal (170), Carhart (168), and Miranda (167) rounded out the performances for the Seahawks in the fourth match of the day. 
 
Traditional Match #5 – Wagner 913, Saint Francis U 784
  • In the final match of the afternoon, the Seahawks were pitted against their Northeast Conference (NEC) rival, Saint Francis U. 
  • The Green & White were firing on all cylinders in the match, as Sarreal and Medvetz each finished at 193 while Colon added a 164. 
  • Kassidy Landwehr led the Red Flash with a 176 while Samantha Timm rolled a 168.

  • The Seahawks conclude the two-day tournament on Sunday morning as they will take on Molloy, St. Francis Brooklyn, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Morgan State, and Caldwell in Baker Pinfall format.
