Men's Tennis Drops Conference Opener At St. Francis Brooklyn On Friday

Brooklyn, NY - The Wagner men's tennis team dropped its first Northeast Conference (NEC) match of the season, falling to local rival, St. Francis Brooklyn, 5-2, on Friday morning. 
 
Match Notes
  • St. Francis Brooklyn won the doubles point after taking the third and second doubles.
  • The pairing of senior Dylan Walters and newcomer Omar Loutfy edged out Tomas Dirube and Paolo Chiapponi, 6-4, at first doubles. 
  • Walters and classmate Hans Ohrner each collected victories at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. 
  • Walters defeated Dirube, 6-3; 6-3
  • Ohrner jumped out to a 7-5 first set win before dropping the second set, 3-6, which set up the third and deciding set, in which Ohrner came out victorious, 6-2. 

Inside The Match
  • Both Walters and Ohrner have now racked up 42 singles wins, which is tied for third all-time on the Wagner career singles wins list, behind former teammates, Charlton Boyd (75) and Eric Poland (52). 
 
Next Up
  • The Seahawks will close out the weekend on Sunday evening with a seven-minute drive to the College of Staten Island (CSI), as they will take on the Dolphins.
