Lewisburg, PA – The Wagner men's water polo team led by a 6-4 count at halftime over 17th-ranked Bucknell before the Bison rallied for an 11-7 win on Saturday in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) action.

A pair of California natives, sophomore Oscar Nomura (Irvine, CA / Irvine) and freshman Jack Leighton (Lake Forest, CA / El Toro), put the Green & White on the board with back-to-back goals in the first period to give the Seahawks an early 2-0 lead.  However, the Bison answered with two goals to make it a 2-2 game after the first quarter.

The second stanza was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, as Leighton registered three more goals before the end of the half, while freshman Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / Kings College) found the back of the net once.

This scoring flurry lifted Wagner to that 6-4 lead at the intermission. At the outset of the second half, the Blue & Orange quickly evened the score, notching a pair of goals, before adding two more later in the period to make it an 8-6 game heading into the fourth quarter.

Kolasinac opened the final period with his second and final goal of the match, just a minute and a half in, drawing the Seahawks to within one, at 8-7. This is as as close as the Seahawks would get, however, as the Bison rattled off the final three goals of the game en route to the 11-7 win.

Despite the loss, junior goalkeeper Cameron Woldt (San Diego, CA / Serra High School [San Diego Mesa College]) made an impressive nine saves.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 9-7 on the season and 3-3 in MAWPC play while Bucknell improves to 9-6 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play.

These two teams will meet again on Saturday, October 14 when they square off in a 9:30 a.m. start at the Hartford Invite in the first of two games that day for Wagner. In game two, the Seahawks will take on St. Francis Brooklyn in a 2:15 start.
