Lewisburg, PA – The Wagner men's water polo team was defeated 11-6 in its final regular season match-up against Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference rival Bucknell University.
Freshman driver
Oscar Nomura (Irvine, CA/Irvine) led the Green & White with three goals to bring his total to 45 on his rookie season.
Nomura fired the first goal less than two minutes into the contest to give the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead. However, the Bison countered with a 3-0 run to end the quarter ahead 3-1.
Once again, Nomura tallied the first marker of the second quarter to give the Green & White its second goal. Bucknell's Nate Hunter followed up with his own goal before freshman driver
Matthew Miller drilled his 34
th goal of the year as the Seahawks entered intermission trailing 5-3.
The Bison began the second half with a 5-0 run before freshman utility
Graham Schmelzer (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) ended it with the first goal of his collegiate career.
Despite outscoring Bucknell 2-1 in the final stanza behind goals from Nomura and junior driver
James Grady (Boca Raton, FL/Boca Raton), the Seahawks were handed their seventh conference loss.
