Men's Water Polo Falls 11-6 To Bucknell In Final Game Of The Season

Lewisburg, PA – The Wagner men's water polo team was defeated 11-6 in its final regular season match-up against Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference rival Bucknell University.

Freshman driver Oscar Nomura (Irvine, CA/Irvine) led the Green & White with three goals to bring his total to 45 on his rookie season.

Nomura fired the first goal less than two minutes into the contest to give the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead. However, the Bison countered with a 3-0 run to end the quarter ahead 3-1.

Once again, Nomura tallied the first marker of the second quarter to give the Green & White its second goal. Bucknell's Nate Hunter followed up with his own goal before freshman driver Matthew Miller drilled his 34th goal of the year as the Seahawks entered intermission trailing 5-3.

The Bison began the second half with a 5-0 run before freshman utility Graham Schmelzer (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) ended it with the first goal of his collegiate career.

Despite outscoring Bucknell 2-1 in the final stanza behind goals from Nomura and junior driver James Grady (Boca Raton, FL/Boca Raton), the Seahawks were handed their seventh conference loss.

Wagner returns to competition in two weeks for the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Tournament held at Bucknell University from Friday, November 18 – Sunday, November 20. The tournament schedule can be viewed here
