GAME 1
GAME 2

Fairfield, CT-
The Wagner College softball team dropped a pair of Northeast Conference (NEC) games this afternoon to Sacred Heart University. In game one of the twinbill, the Seahawks fell by a 1-0 count before losing the nightcap, 7-0.

In game one, the Seahawks fell in a pitcher's duel by a score of 1-0. Wagner had an opportunity to score in the top of the fifth inning when senior Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ / Paramus Catholic) led off with a double to right field. The rally was cut short, however, when Vanore was caught stealing at third base.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Pioneers scored the lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly to center field. This lead would be enough to take the win as Wagner would fall in the top of the seventh inning with a runner stranded on first base.

In the circle, freshman Kaelynn Armenta (Whittier, CA / Paul HS) dropped to 5-11 through 6.0 innings of work. The right-hander fanned three while allowing five hits.

In game two, Wagner was unable to produce a single run as the Pioneers' pitching held the Seahawks to only six hits. Sacred Heart's seven runs were scattered across the first, third and fourth innings.

The Pioneers' jumped out to a two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, notching runs on a home run and a single. Sacred Heart extended its lead in the third inning to 5-0, plating runners on a single and two Wagner miscues.

In the fourth inning, the Pioneers locked in the victory with a pair of RBI singles, seizing the win 7-0.

In the circle for the Green & White, junior Kate Eshelman (Reno, NV / McQueen) took the loss through 3.0 innings of action dropping her record to 4-10.

The Seahawks (12-22, 1-7 NEC) return to action tomorrow April, 11 when they travel to Teaneck, NJ to face NEC foe Fairleigh Dickinson University. First pitch is set for 2:00 pm.
