Staten Island, NY - Wagner College junior second baseman Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV/ Wooster) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association/ Louisville Slugger All-Mid Atlantic Region second team.

This honor comes on the heels Lazzari being named the "Player of the Year" by the Northeast Conference on May 8 at the annual postseason award banquet, which marked the first time a Wagner player has earned this distinction. Lazzari's steller season helped lead the Seahawks to a 27-22 record (10-8 NEC) and a berth in last weekend's four-team NEC Tournament.

Lazzari spearheaded a potent Wagner offense that ranked in the top 25 in in the nation in batting average (.320), slugging percentage (.482) and runs scored per game (5.3).

Lazzari topped the NEC in home runs (10) and RBI (55), was second in hits (65) and slugging percentage (.7219) and third in batting average (.425). The second baseman's .517 average in league play ranked second, while her .914 slugging percentage against conference opponents was number one in the NEC. Lazzari, the NEC's Rookie of the Year in 2006, ranked sixth nationally in RBIs per game (1.15).

The junior set two Wagner school records this year: single-season record for RBI in a season as well as hits in a single-season.
