Staten Island, NY - Wagner Soccer Head Coach Mike Minielli announced today that the program has officially signed another crop of three student-athletes that will enroll at the school this upcoming fall and join the roster for the 2008 campaign. What looks to be the final installment of Wagner Soccer's Class of 2012 hails all the way from the West Coast to regions of the Northeast. Alexis Makwinski (Temulca, CA/Great Oak High School) is a 5'9" defender who played for TVSA in club ball. She is slotted to play that stopper role, also, for the Seahawks this upcoming season. "Alexis is a tall, physical back that we really needed," said Minielli. "She has a long throw which gives us another weapon on the offensive end. We were thin in the back, sos he will make an impact on the back line right away." Anna Kivela (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) is a 5'4" forward/midfielder who played her club ball with the Salt City Stars. She will also play both positions here at Wagner. "Anna is an attacker that will help our goal-scoring which has been a big weakness for us the last two years," said Minielli. "She is a high-energy player that can carry the ball with pace, score and set up goals." Laine Dubinsky (Laurel, NY/Loomis Chaffee) is a 5'2" projected forward here at Wagner. "Laine fills out of our front line," said Minielli. "She is a scorer and puts herself in good spots around goal. She also has the speed to get in behind the defense. She is a big addition to us as we need the added help in putting the ball in net." |
