Complete List Of Honorees
Amherst, MA - Sophomore catcher
Nick Dini (Monroe Township, NJ / Monroe Township) was named to the
American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Northeast Region First Team while junior outfielder
Ian Miller (Downingtown, PA / Bishop Shanahan) earned Second Team honors.
Voting for the teams was conducted by the 39 head coaches in the Northeast Region, which were representative of 10 different conferences.
Dini, who was recently
named Team MVP, became the first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC)
First Team selection at catcher in school history after hitting .312 with a NEC regular-season best 46 RBI. The Garden State native also ranked among the league leaders in total bases (97) (t-5th), hits (67) (9th), doubles (14) (t-8th) and home runs (4) (t-9th) while throwing out 29.4 percent (10-of-34) of would-be base stealers.
Miller, who was
drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 14th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft, had one of the finest seasons in school history. The
Seattle Mariner farmhand stole a school and league-record 46 bases (2nd NCAA) while ranking second with 77 hits and 46 runs en route to posting a .329 average.
The duo becomes the first Wagner players to be lauded by the ABCA since
Matt Watson earned First Team honors as a starting pitcher in 2009 with former Baltimore Oriole farmhand
Andrew Huebner landing a spot on the Second Team as a reliever.
Bryant, which paced all 39 schools with four representatives, helped the NEC lead all conferences with eight combined players on the ABCA Northeast Region First & Second Teams.
