SPRING PRACTICE SCHEDULE (PDF)
Staten Island, NY - The 2012 Wagner College football program has announced its Spring Practice Schedule, which will commence on Friday, March 23 and conclude with the annual Green & White Spring Game on Sunday, April 29 at Noon.
The Seahawks, under the direction of
Walt Hameline, who will enter his 32
nd season as head coach of the Seahawks this fall with a 204-122-2 (.624) record, will use the spring to improve fundamental skills and install new offensive, defensive and special teams plays. Practices are open to the public and guests should contact Operations Director
Bill Cole at 732-445-4511 in the football office for specific practice times and dates as they are subject to change.
There have been several noteworthy additions to the Seahawk coaching staff during the off-season.
Tom Masella has been tabbed as associate head coach. A former Seahawk standout player, assistant coach and most recently the head coach of Fordham, Masella will also head up the Seahawk special teams and secondary units.
After leading the Seahawks to the head of the
Northeast Conference (NEC) in several major statistical categories in his one season as defensive coordinator in 2010,
Malik Hall returns to Grymes Hill in the same role after serving the 2011 season as the defensive line coach at UMass. Most recently, Wagner added former Rutgers record-setting quarterback
Mike Teel to the staff as quarterbacks coach. Teel served as quarterbacks coach at Kean University in 2011, helping to lead the Cougars to a 10-2 record.
The Seahawks' off-season conditioning program has been buoyed by the momentum built by a season-ending three-game winning streak that allowed Wagner to finish the 2011 season with a 4-4 NEC record and an overall mark of 4-7.
Wagner will kick off the
2012 season on Friday, August 31 when the Seahawks travel to FBS member Florida Atlantic.
