New York, NY - Wagner student-athletes and lifelong friends
Josh Thompson and
Dominique Williams from South Jersey will be profiled on
Time Warner Cable's 24-hour newschannel
NY1 later this week, as both have received national attention over the last year for their high-flying theatrics.
A year ago, Thompson achieved national acclaim for dunking over his mother at the basketball program's inaugural
"Madness Before Midnight" event, en route to earning the
No. 1 play on ESPN's SportsCenter. This past Saturday, Williams catapulted over a Bryant defender en route to a 29-yard gain in the Seahawks' 31-21 victory over the Bulldogs. Later that night, Williams' play was highlighted on
SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays, while also appearing in
ESPN SportsCenter's College Football Top Plays for week five.
Despite attending different high schools, the two student-athletes have been friends since they were "in diapers," according to Thompson. Despite both hailing from Bridgeton, NJ, the duo split up for high school with Thompson attending St. Augustine Prep (Richland, NJ) and Williams enrolling at Bridgeton High School (Bridgeton, NJ) and later Milford Academy (Berlin, NY). The pair would reunite at Wagner when Thompson enrolled in the fall of 2008 and Williams one year later in the fall of 2009.
The
NY1 segment analyzes each student-athlete's respective highlight, while serving as a preview for the men's and women's basketball programs' second annual
"Madness Before Midnight" event.
