2010 Schedule
Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women’s lacrosse program, under the direction of second-year head coach
Cristina Curiale, has announced its 2010 schedule, a 16-game slate that features seven non-conference games and nine Northeast Conference (NEC) contests.
The 2010 campaign commences with a home game vs. Bucknell on Wed., Feb. 24, followed by the season’s first road tilt at Saint Joseph’s on Sat., Feb. 27.
The Seahawks return three of their top five leading scorers from a year ago. Prolific rising sophomore midfielder
Carolyn Clark (Syracuse, NY / Westhill) is coming off a sensational freshman season where she led the Seahawks in goals with 29 and was second on the team in points with 35.
Rising senior midfielder
Janine Bright was Wagner’s third-leading scorer a year ago with 32 points on 19 goals and 13 assists, despite missing two games due to injury. Rising sophomore midfielder
Melanie Garces (San Diego, CA / Westview) was fifth on the team in scoring in 2009 with 30 points on the strength of 19 goals and 11 assists.
Wagner also returns a stalwart in goal in rising senior Alex Johnston (Fayettevillle, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius) who registered 175 saves a year ago and enters the 2010 season second on the Seahawk all-time career saves list with 462.
Wagner finished with a mark of 4-13 in 2009, and the Seahawks were sixth in the NEC with a record of 3-5.
